I have new digs.

.

.

Moving has been hard, lots of changes in life, but there is a bright ray of sunshine…new digs means NEW FURNITURE PROJECTS!!!! This is the dining/work table I built for myself a couple weeks ago. Still grappling with some of the logistics, I have McCobb style stools that work for now as seating, but I have moved them against the wall because I hate the messy verticals I get when they are under the table. That industrial lamp is great, but all wrong in that corner…that will change too. And heaven help that horrible linoleum (solutions forthcoming!!). But the table was a success and it was, in all, pretty easy and cheap to make.

.

.

I used two steel sawhorses from Home Depot , 3/4″ birch plywood top from Mr. Plywood  cut to size (love those guys) that I stained black with Minwax Ebony. I just used one coat because I wanted to still be able to see the grain patterning, then I did a final coat with Land Ark oil and a little Feed N Wax for a deeper sheen on the finish. I drilled 4 sets of holes over each sawhorse, then used some leather strapping I had lying around to tie the table top to the base. Voilá!! New industrial table for under $100. As a friend said, it’s “like a construction worker with a warm heart.”

Happiness.
